Introducing Graeme Carpenter Clendenin!

September 29th, 2009 at 1:09pm; Graeme Carpenter Clendenin was welcomed into this world. It has been a long wait, but the wait was so worth it! I know it has only been 3 days, but he is the best baby. He is sleeping well, starting eating well today, and is so peaceful. Ceilidh is OBSESSED with him. It is really cute to watch her get excited about him. She asks 5 million times a day, "Hold Gaeme, mommy? Peez!" I am really thankful for how well she is adjusting, at least up to this point.

11:30pm Monday evening, I started having a few contractions. They continued to get stronger and around 2 minutes apart, so around 3am; we decided to head across the street to the hospital. Of course once we get to the hospital, my contractions slow down to almost 5 - 7 minutes apart. I was really worried they were going to send me home. One of my practices midwives admitted me though, as I was still progressing. We continued to labor all night and into the morning with very slow progression. Nothing seemed to help quicken the pace; walking, jet tub, the birthing ball, the birthing bar, different postions; you name it, we tried it! Finally, right before 1pm, I asked the midwife to break my water. This baby was coming out like it or not! ha With a few pushes, little Graeme decided to make his entrance.... finally! ha I wonder if this laid back attitude will continue. One can only hope!

Obviously we are thrilled and can't wait to share our excitement with everyone. I'm sorry if you have called or emailed and I haven't gotten back to you. Coming home to a 2 1/2 year old, with a baby is much different than coming home with your first. Though I said I knew it would be different, I really didn't know how different it would be. I hope to talk with you all soon! Thanks for all your well wishes, prayers, and love.
