Just like Ceilidh, he really just decided to take an interest in the potty all by himself. We have had a toddler potty in the bathroom since they were little, but never said anything about it really. For a couple of months now, he has been telling me either in the "process" or right after the "process" that he needed to go. We would praise him for telling us, but carried on like normal. Just in the last couple of weeks, I have started taking his diaper off when he tells me, so he can get the feeling of sans diaper. wink
Well, last night he did it! Right before bedtime, he told us he needed to go and I took his diaper off. He sat down and immediately jumped up, "Done!" He then ran out onto the carpet and I could tell he was trying to pee on the floor. (He is definitely my little rascal!) Hurriedly, I told him to go back to the potty if he needed to pee. We pee-pee only in the potty! I walked out thinking this would be like any other "try." When I came back around the corner though, pee was flying all through the air! HA I was laughing, praising him, and internally crying all at the same time. Though he was a bit stunned at first; he was so excited and actually able to redirect some of it into the potty!
We have a LONG way to go with all this, but I am proud of him and his first successful "try." I am so thankful potty training has gone really smoothly for both of our toddlers at least to this point. Even though Ceilidh struggled a bit with #2, it could have been a lot worse. So here's to Graeme and the beginning of his rite of passage to big boy underwear!!!
Oh, and here's to my many hours of cleaning my bathroom floor... and shower curtain... and cabinet... and walls...! Hopefully he will get the knack of "aim" quickly! HA
