Innate Girly-ness

Ceilidh has recently become obsessed with princesses. Where did this come from? We haven't read any more princess books than usual, she has never watched a Disney princess movie (all my movies are VHSes!), and we don't live in Europe where there is for real royalty! ha She has already told us she wants a princes b'day party where she can wear a "beautiful pink dress and pink slippers." Her b'day is 4 months away! ha

I am actually not surprised at this at all; it is just funny how this obsession came out of the blue, and how strongly it came. I too, loved all things princess. My favorite prize from all my pageant years was a custom-made robe that flowed behind me and laid ever-so beautifully when you turned around. I also love the show, Say Yes to the Dress. Ok, so all of my princess obsession isn't gone! HA! She has gotten the bug honestly.

Tonight, after reading "The Frog Princess," I asked her what kind of princess she wanted to be. She told me a "ballerina princess." I asked her if she was going to dance with her prince, and she told me "Yes, Daddy is my King!" WOOHOO!!! That is exactly what we want her to feel! So often people view our Heavenly father the way they view their earthly father (RMC, wink). I am thankful Andrew is modeling such a positive image in front of her. He is a great Daddy and definitely worthy of the title "King of her and my heart."

I also have to brag on her a little. Our bedtime routine was/is special; but time consuming. Now that I have little Graeme to get to bed around the same time; we had to cut down on our bedtime rocking time. I have always laid her down awake, but she really likes to wind down for quite a while. Sometimes she would want to rock/talk/sing/snuggle for 25 minutes. Like I said, I loved the time together; but it is just not possible anymore. Anyway, all that to say; she has laid down after one song of rocking and gone to sleep the last 3 nights in a row. Tonight she got out of bed 3 times, but she finally fell asleep after some bribery ( I like to call it positive reinforcement! ha). 10 Princess stickers on a poster board and then Ceilidh gets to pick a treat! She has 5 stickers already! Hopefully she will continue to buy into this until it becomes our new "normal" routine!
