Conversations with a three year old

I need to start carrying around a tape recorder daily. We have some of the funniest/sweetest conversations with Ceilidh during the most random times. It is so fun to see how her little brain is processing things, as well hear about the things she ponders. Just today we had two pretty hilarious conversations.

Tonight at dinner, we were talking about the Holy Spirit and how he is everywhere we invite him to be. It is hard for a 26 year old to understand the Trinity and how the Spirit lives in our heart as well as being in the world. Andrew started telling her about creation and how the Holy Spirit hovered over the deep before the world was created. We were trying to remember where in scripture it talks about physically being able to see the Spirit move over the healing pools when Ceilidh quips, " I haven't seen that movie yet!" HA I told her, "Ceilidh, you are so funny!" "I'm not funny mommy, I'm perfect!" Of course I laughed even harder after that comment.

Driving through campus tonight, we started talking about how students would soon be arriving to move into dorms b/c school was starting again. That led to a discussion about why students didn't live in CH year round like we did, and how they went home to their parents b/c they didn't have families of their own yet. That convo moved on to her not wanting to be a mommy someday, she just wanted to be a big "garrrl." (You have to hear how she says girl.... its hilarious!) Andrew quickly reassured her that was ok with him. HA! Anyway, this whole conversation finally ended up with her asking us why she couldn't go on an adventure by herself. ( Not quite sure how we got there! ha) I definitely wanted to see where this was going, so we kept asking her questions. She clarified that she and Graeme were going on an adventure together to a far away land. (Thank you books for giving her an imagination! ha) Still asking her questions, she told us that she and Graeme were going to fly to Candy Land where they were going to jump and have fun. (Lauren you might want to join this adventure if there is jumping involved! wink) Apparently all the candies are going to teach Graeme how to walk. I asked her what Daddy and I were going to do while they were gone. She told me we were going on a hike in the woods. By the end of the conversation, she had decided they would take this adventure in her room while we were cooking dinner.

"Oh the places she will go....."
