When I was pregnant with Ceilidh, the labor bag could hardly be zipped it was so full; and it was in the car waiting (with the car seat) from 35 weeks on! She was born at 39 weeks/5 days. HA I had clothing for all three of us, camera, extra batteries, blankets, hair ties, chapstick, change for vending machines, Suduko books (CLEARLY I had never given natural birth before! HA), make-up, toiletries, and on and on and on. I used my change of clothes, camera, her "going home" outfit, and put on makeup for "going home" pictures. The make-up made me looked even worse and more tired than I actually was! ha
When I was pregnant with Graeme, the bag was definitely a lot lighter, but still pretty size-able. I knew I wouldn't use half of it, but felt it needed to be in the bag just b/c it was "supposed" to be there. The bag and car seat were in the car probably by the end of my 36th week.
A couple of days ago, I thought to myself, "I should probably put a change of clothes and the baby's clothing in the car." I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant. The car seat is still being shipped and probably won't be in until next week sometime. So... Lauren or Lydia, I might need to borrow your infant seat to bring this baby home if it happens in the next couple of days! ha The bag literally has a change of clothes, baby clothing, hair ties, and a camera. No Suduko and no make-up. wink
I am not saying packing for the "what ifs" and "might needs" is a bad thing. I just know for us, it is just one more thing to keep up with during our stay! ha My doula is pretty busy until tomorrow night after 9:30pm, but after that this baby is free to come. The bag is "packed," and we are ready to meet her/him!!!

I am opposite. With Natalie I found myself in need of so many things I didn't even think of packing. My bad was practically empty. This time around it's going to be over stuffed!
If I could just get one good night's sleep after 9:30 tomorrow that would be perfect:)
