YAY!!! We have access to the internet again! woohoo! I can't wait to post about Hudson's first birthday party... but that will have to wait until I have access to my pictures. Andrew has his new computer, but all my pictures are on my computer with the burned out power cord. ugh
I do have to vent just a minute tonight though before I sign off for the night. Earlier this year, I got a recall email from Ceilidh's crib manufacturer. Thankfully, we never had any problems with Ceilidh's crib, and I still love the look of it to this day. The fun part of this recall though, is that we got a voucher for a brand new crib for Baby C. Well, this is where the fun ends.
Andrew and I went to Babies R Us to scope out the cribs and found one we really liked. The new crib is actually a little more expensive than Ceilidh's crib was, but was on sell for about $30 less than what we paid for hers. Score, right? Well, the voucher included the tax we had previously paid, so we were thinking we had $40 to spare at Babies R Us. The voucher clearly said that no cash refund would be given, but I still believed that "our money" was still our money, even if it had to be in-store credit. I have never claimed to be a logical person, but that just makes sense to me.
We go to pick up the crib thinking we are going to get diapers, some clothes (we have NO boy anything), a piece of his bedding, anything.... Well, according to the assistant-manager, the crib voucher is ONLY for a crib. There is no money back, and no in-store credit if your crib bill doesn't add up to the amount you paid the first time. Obviously they do this, so that you spend more money the second go around. Insert reminder here: I am getting a voucher in the first place b/c your crib malfunctioned. Not my fault, but yours Mr. Jardine.
Ok, so I was frustrated for many different reasons. 1. There are no other cribs the exact same price Ceilidh's was. I am not satisfied paying a dime more, and I'm not satisfied "losing" money we have already paid. (The only crib that was the same price, was Ceilidh's exact crib in a different color. Ummmm, I'm getting a voucher for that crib; do I look like an idiot to turn around and buy the same thing again!?) 2. Babies R Us is completely ripping people off. This is the same thing as someone walking in off the street and saying, " Hey, I think you need $40 for the heck of it. Here you go." The voucher money came from the manufacturer, as it should, so Babies R Us is pocketing the remaining money that they received the first time we paid! Really annoying!
Ok, my ranting is over for the evening. Andrew keeps telling me to not worry about it, we still got a new crib out of it. I agree, but I am still annoyed. I have also realized the last million posts have been about Ceilidh and Ceilidh related things. I do have a life outside of her. It may be small, (wink), but it is there! ha
