So we are definitely not in Carthage anymore!
Proof #1: Yesterday we had to print out some paperwork for Andrew's practicum, and he is not allowed access to school computers for another couple of weeks. Therefore, we had to go to the library to print out what he needed. Ceilidh and I had been the other day, but this was Andrew's first trip. He pulls up into the multi-level parking lot and says, "Wow, there are a lot of people here!" (Carthage doesn't even have a parking lot. We parked on the street in front of the building. haha) Ceilidh literally is dragging him by the hand into "her secton" (children's section). While Ceilidh and I are picking out new books, Andrew goes to find the computers to print out his form. He comes back a few minutes later looking confused. I have obviously never used the computers here either, so we switch spots and I go looking. In Carthage, you sign your name in a book next to the computer and you jump on. Makes perfect sense. Well.... apparently Chapel Hill is not into simplicity! ha You literally have to scan your library card at a reservation computer (yes I said a reservation computer). That will give you a choice of computers and the wait time to get on. (Wait time... are you serious?! There are truly 65 computers!) Once you make your choice, the computer gives you a receipt with your 4 digit password. When your time comes up, you go to your terminal and put in your 4 digit password. After that, you have 1 hour at a time, up to 3 times a day. Finally I got his form up on the screen, and then I had to pick another password for the print job that is picked up at yet another computer and printer! haha Wow... glad he will have school access soon!
Proof #2: Andrew literally was verbally and hand-language accousted the other day at a stoplight b/c he didn't run the red light. No lie. The light turned red as we approached the line so he stopped. Duh, most sane people would. The guy behind us apparently would not have. I will protect my husband's integrity by not relying the rest of this story... but lets just say he wasn't very nice back to the man either. ha (It wasn't that bad, I'm just giving him a hard time.)
Prood #3: Ceilidh and I dropped off Andrew at the airport for a friend's wedding this morning. I haven't been to RDU in a while, and I could tell. You now keep your parking ticket with you, b/c you can pay inside the building before you reach your car. This was a nice big city change. Life is made a little easier.
We are already missing Andrew and it has only been a couple of hours! ha I have to be honest and say there were a few tears during our goodbye. Goodbyes, even only for a few days, hold a bit more significance when you have invested so much in each other's lives. I think I had a few tears for the $50 extra dollars they charge for two checked bags now! Are you serious?! I guess I haven't flown in a while, b/c the agent said this had been in effect for a year.
