A radical, restless life.

Your life is not going to be easy, and it should not be easy. It ought to be hard. It ought to be radical; it ought to be restless; it ought to lead you to places you'd rather not go.
--Henri Nouwen (1932-1996), priest and author

I recently took a trip to the mountains to do some hiking with my Dad on a rare Friday off from work. As we walked along the ridge of the Black Mountain Range crossing Mt. Mitchell, Mt. Craig, and Big Tom Mt., we discussed how being at a point of brokeness both in the physical, spiritual, and emotional realm is sometimes strangely refreshing. I will be the first to tell you that over the past year and a half my life has been both radical and restless, and extremely hard. Yet, everyday I am thankful for God's steadfast provision and love. I am thankful for a loving and gracious wife, and a beautiful and energetic daughter. I am especially thankful for the confidence I have that Kenan is with our heavenly father, free from the chaos of this world. If it were not for the places I would "rather not go", I would not have the appreciation for life I do now, or the longing for heaven.
