She Melts My Heart

I figured I would round out this pre-Thanksgiving post with a few more sweet stories about Ceilidh. After the last post I started getting worried that you might think we have no life outside of Ceilidh. HA I do have stories about Andrew and myself, but compared to her they just aren't as cute! After tonight though, I will give you a break from Ceilidh-obsession posts.

She has always loved to be tickled, play peek-a-boo, chase, etc... but recently she has LOVED to be tickled. Andrew will get her out of the crib some mornings and bring her into our room. She loves for Daddy to "rough-house" with her and actually uses her sign plus says "more,more... more,Daddy, more." Tonight in the grocery store, she was getting loud so I told her if she wanted to be loud that she should sing. (She always gets a lot quieter when she sings!) So I started her off on a song and stopped as another shopper passed by! Well, Ceilidh stands up using her sign and says, "MORE MOMMY MORE!" HA It is really sweet to actually see her need to be loved. What a lesson we can learn from children to just verbalize our relational needs.

Her bedtime routine is pretty consistent every night. After she has her bath, we turn on her music, and read a couple books before the light goes off. After the light is turned off, we pray with her, and whoever is putting her to sleep will rock her for a minute or so. Tonight I (Cyndy) put her down. I had just laid her in the crib and she grabbed my hand and started squeezing it. I think she has associated squeezing with a sign of affection b/c she is so cute I have to squeeze her sometimes when I hug her! ha Anyways, she jumps up and says, "mommy, rook, rook." Choking back tears, I asked her if she wanted to rock, and she jumped into my arms with a huge smile. AHHHHH- I am really going to miss this someday!

The other day while I was putting on her shoes to leave the house, she started emphatically saying something that I could not understand. After she had thrown herself to the ground, banging her head on the floor repetitively, and crying; I realized she was saying "dance." Have I ever mentioned she is a bit strong-headed?! ha She wanted to wear her ballet shoes. In fact, she has thrown this same fit a couple days in a row now. They are really cute and if it makes her feel like a little dancer... why not? I couldn't resist a picture.
