School days and Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! We had a great time eating and seeing family. I had such a fun time with my family, I forgot to get many pictures. Errr! I love this time of year!!!! I am sort of sad Thanksgiving is already over, but super excited about the Advent season.

In the voting booth

Casting his ballot

Mommy's attempt at a "I Voted" sticker! ha They ran out at the legit polling site

He wants NOTHING more than to be JUST like Daddy. Last night, he was wearing a grey long sleeve t-shirt with a pocket just like Andrew.  Andrew's shirt was a polo though, so it had the horse emblem and G's didn't. At some point during the evening, Graeme took a marker and tried to draw a horse on his pocket. No lie... true story. Absolutely adorable and extremely frustrating. That marker is never going to come out! ha

HA.... C and G can get a little frustrated when Jane-o thwarts school activities.

We studied maps last week, so they drew their own map of a fictitious town called Gregory. Gregory had all the essentials: a library, Fire Station, Fire Tower, Food lion, Chickfila, and an Outback! Bet you couldn't guess who demanded which places! wink

Thanksgiving Day with Nana and Granddaddy

Graeme vetoed this picture, and apparently Ceilidh was too! ha

"Enough with the pictures, Mom."

Look at this turkey.... it was enormous! ha Oh, and unbelievably good.

The two cooks for the "Clendenin" feast

Playing football before dinner

Jack decided he would rather rake the tree than play football. wink

Graeme tackled Pops.... and they were on the same team! ha

Paul warming up his "shhhhing" skills. Baby "Flower" will be here any day now!!!

I'm so glad Caitlin has made a showing of "The Grinch" a Thanksgiving tradition. So much fun!

I love how Graeme is looking at Zion.

The "Gold" Team

There isn't a more storied Football program than that of Notre Dame, or in Ceilidh's words.... the Gold team. wink Obviously, my love of Carolina football grew out of my own heart's allegiance to the school and program. My first love and allegiance will always be colored baby blue, but I have room in my heart for a little gold as well! wink

My love of Notre Dame has grown out of Andrew's boyhood fascination which has continued to deepen throughout his life. Countless hours of running out of the dome to the roar of screaming 'fighting Irish' fans happened every weekend in the front yard. wink His first (own) dog was appropriately named 'Knute." I could continue... but for now, I will just say "We are ND!"

This is an excerpt from an article in Notre Dame Magazine:

'As for senior captain Manti Te’o, what can better express the Notre Dame family’s love than tears of joy? Thousands of students proudly wore yellow and white leis in admiration of their fellow student as Te’o, last of all the seniors, emotionally embraced his parents before the game.
When Brian Kelly called a timeout early in the fourth quarter, he gave Motta, Lewis-Moore and Te’o a fitting curtain call. One by one, each senior bounded off the field to thunderous applause, fighting back tears as they accepted the bittersweet finality of their final home game.
As season’s heroes exited, Kelly called to the stage the unheralded seniors and walk-ons who have served as scout teamers and backups for four years at Notre Dame. This is the true hope of any Senior Day — a volley cheer for every senior on the roster — and Kelly’s players thanked him with a frigid bath of something greener than champagne.
Later in the night, the South Bend celebration peaked with gusto as former leaders Oregon and Kansas State bowed to their underdog opponents. The Fighting Irish prepare their siege of unmighty Troy amid a chorus of rejoicing. For the first time in nearly 20 years, Notre Dame is #1.
As the star-spangled banner snapped brightly above a ceremony for veterans of both the gridiron and the battlefield, one must ask: For whom do the echoes awake each sublime Saturday afternoon?
Yes, they beckon greats like Riddick, Toma, Eifert, Martin, Lewis-Moore and Te’o. On a campus graced by bronze statues of priests, coaches and Moses himself, Rockne’s apostles will always await golden-helmeted heroes of the fall.
But every hero needs a loyal band of brothers ready to charge into the breach. So the echoes also call for players like Charlie Fiessinger and Nick Fitzpatrick and Dennis Mahoney. They are among the sturdy immigrant sons who, for 125 years, have blocked and tackled in anonymity for Notre Dame. Theirs is a true Notre Dame legacy: nameless fighters who tough through snow and mud and sweat and blood to bear aloft a tiny but audacious Catholic university from the snowy banks of Saint Mary’s Lake to the beating heart of America.
Their names are unknown. Their faces are not famous. They are the Fighting Irish.'

National Championship game.... here we come!!

SO behind

I am so behind in posting for memory's sake (at least in order), but I can't get to my memory card at the moment... so some things will just have to be recorded later. I did want to post an adorable picture of Ceilidh though, from her performance this weekend as a snowflake in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" As a dance instructor, I have wanted to be apart of this show for YEARS!!! And the change up from "The Nutcracker" didn't disappoint! I love the tradition of "The Nutcracker," but I think I will be able to shop this year without wearing ear muffs. Normally, I want to run out of every store I hear the music b/c I have been listening to it since early October rehearsing in the classroom. HA
The "Grinch" was SO much fun, and the costumes and sets were amazing! Ceilidh (and the seventeen 3-5 year olds I teach) were snowflakes throughout the show. They "swept" down onto the "Whos" during the beginning and rejoiced with the Grinch when his heart grew! They did such a great job behaviorally and on stage. I was a proud teacher, and an even prouder momma! wink I know, I know.... it isn't even Thanksgiving (which I love as well); but I am excited the Christmas season is right around the corner!!!! P.S. Thank you Grappy and ZZ for saving the day with camera phones. Negligent mommy forgot her camera...errrr! ha

Daily 'funnies'

There are usually several comments during the day that I text to Andrew that one of the older two has said. Two of my favorite from today.....

(As I was tucking him in for his nap)
Graeme: My nose is running.
Me: I will get you a tissue.
Graeme: Momma, why do they call it snot?
Me: I'm not sure, Graeme. It is really called mucus. Snot is a slang word.
Graeme: Oh, I think snot is a funny word.

*He had a straight face the entire time, while I was definitely TRYING to keep a straight face. ha

(While we were discussing her curriculum book)
Me: Mommy didn't have a computer when I was your age. My family didn't get one until I was like seven or so.
Ceilidh: Did ZZ have a computer?
Me: No, sweetie.
Ceilidh: Did she have a t.v.?
Me: After she got a little older, I'm sure. You should ask her.
Ceilidh: Did Nana?
Me: No, probably not when she was little.
Ceilidh (totally astonished): Did she even have PAPER?!

*HA! I am a little scared to think of what our great grandchildren will have at their finger tips that I can't even imagine right now.

Busy, busy, busy

I know our life isn't any different than any one else's, but we just seem to be busy the last couple of months. Nothing really in particular; just dance, soccer, home school, jobs, etc.... life, I guess! I am hoping things will settle down a bit more towards the beginning of December, and then here comes Christmas! I love Christmas though, so I enjoy the hustle and bustle during that time.

Anyway... nothing much to write about, but I did want to document Jane's first steps!!! I wouldn't necessarily label her as a "walker" quite yet, but she is definitely balancing herself and then walking 5 to 9 steps continuously. She still resorts to crawling for most of her 'getting around.' She loves to walk between Andrew and myself, and then clap very enthusiastically for herself! ha I need to get it on tape.

Ceilidh is still loving dance, and working on her first production right now. She will be a snowflake in 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and she can't wait! I am pretty excited about the show as well. Productions are always worth it in the end; but they are A LOT of work for students and teachers alike. Today was the first time all 17 of my 4 - 6 year olds danced together. I was sweating bullets on the way to rehearsal about how this was going to turn out; but they did wonderfully!

Graeme boy is growing like a weed and testing his momma's (and daddy's) boundaries like never before. He still can be as sweet as ever, but he has learned to 'walk the line' well! ha He ALWAYS has something funny to say. Tonight at bedtime, I was encouraging him to get to sleep quickly so he would have enough energy to go see real trains tomorrow after church. He started asking me several questions about the trains, and then asked if they moved. I told him no, that we weren't going to ride these just walk around them. He then says, "Ok, so not where we went last time. These trains are stapled to the ground. I'll sleep fast!"  I can just imagine he is dreaming about trains with giant staples keeping them from moving. HA

Her first dance with Daddy... in a tutu!

Last week's curriculum book was How to make an Apple Pie and See the World. So obviously, we had to make an apple pie! wink They begged me to make a restaurant so daddy could pay them before we ate. I think they were just trying to help their piggy banks! wink

Making change!

The menu and price list. I love that the bread costs more than the soup and pie! ha

Ceilidh and Graeme both helped with measuring and mixing. They were very proud of themselves. The edges burnt b/c I had run out of aluminum foil, but they did a great job with the middle! wink The whole pie was gone by the next morning. HA
